Faye was born in Ashdown, Arkansas on April 11, 1933 to Sadie and Lester Barr. Assuming several leadership roles in her younger years as Class Valedictorian, Majorette, and Editor of her school paper, Faye ultimately moved to Dallas, Texas in the late 1950’s. Faye soon accepted the prominent role of Executive Secretary at Price Waterhouse where she worked for several years before meeting and then marrying the love of her life, Mr. Hugh M. Briggs in 1979. Sharing their time between Pauma Valley, Ca. and Dallas TX., Hugh and Faye Briggs enjoyed 14 years of happy marriage before Hugh’s passing in 1993. Faye lovingly described these cherished years as the “best years of her life,” and always sought to embrace the memory of her loving husband, Hugh, whom she affectionately referred to as “Hugh Baby.”
A devout Christian, Faye was admired for both her faith and her charity. An avid philanthropist, Faye supported dozens of community-based programs, but some of the charities’ that were dear to her heart are Genesis Women’s Shelter, Nexus Recovery, Retina Foundation, Family Place, Kidney Texas, among many others.
