Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend of many was born July 26, 1931 in Midnight, Mississippi and died December 17th in Dallas, Texas after years of courageously battling numerous illnesses without complaint. She grew up in Edwards, Mississippi and attended Hinds Junior College before moving to Jackson, Mississippi to work. It was there that she met Bill, her husband to be. She was a flight attendant with Delta Airlines for a while before marrying Bill in 1955 and moving to Venezuela to start married life and raising a family in a foreign environment. After 19 years in Venezuela living in Caracas, Maracaibo, and the oil camp of Tia Juana on Lake Maracaibo, she moved to New Canaan, Connecticut in 1974 when Bill changed companies, then to Stavanger, Norway for 9 years before returning to Connecticut in 1985 and later to Dallas in 1986. Living out of the US made it possible to know and understand different cultures, and have many wonderful opportunities to visit and vacation in South and Central America, the Caribbean, Scandinavia, Europe, and England, especially her favorite London, as well as many places in the US. During her life she was active as a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteer at schools, and was always involved in the children’s activities. An excellent cook and mother who raised the children to be decent, honest, caring and loving persons. She was always there for her family and friends. Fan was preceded in death by her parents Richard Willis Blalock and Algus Price Blalock and her brother Harvey Blalock. She is survived by her husband of 56 years William “Bill” M. Walton Jr. of Dallas, daughter Sandra Kay Walton of Dallas, Suzanne Walton Landstrom and husband Bradley D. Landstrom of Houston, and son Robert J. Walton and wife Kathy Ann Akagi Walton of Houston; grandsons Matthew M. and Zachary A. Walton, granddaughter Adrian C. Landstrom, and step granddaughters Kirby Connell and Madeline Landstrom as well as a sister Mildred Blaylock Laubscher of Jackson, Mississippi and brother Pruitt Blalock of Brandon, Mississippi plus numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service to celebrate Fan’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday December 21, 2011 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home followed by a graveside service in the Walton Family plot at the Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.
