He met and married Mary Cochran McNary and had 2 daughters, Denise Kesner Davis and Michelle Kesner Grantham. He proudly served our country in the Army during the 1950-1953 Korean War. He received his BBA from SMU in 1960. After college, he started his impressive hospital career with American Sterilizer in hospital equipment sales. He furthered his education at Trinity University in San Antonio in Healthcare Administration and also received his Fellowship in the American College of Hospital Administration (FACHA). These credentials helped him transition into a career of 50+ years in various administrator and consultant roles in the healthcare industry at hospital, nursing home and assisted living facilities. His ability to market facilities to increase census and to recruit talented new physicians to hospitals and turn them into profitable centers of excellence enabled him to work all over the United States in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and several large cities in Texas.
He and his second wife, Dorothy Mullins Kesner, RN, finally settled in Dallas. They later retired to a farm near McKinney, Texas, where he loved working in the yard and being able to fish whenever he felt the urge. He was small in stature, but full of personality and was always entertaining whether he meant to be or not. Doug can be remembered for always having a perfect yard, a clean car and for teaching his 3 grandkids some of the finer skills in life, including how to fish, shoot a gun, climb on the roof, catch bugs and pretty much any outdoor activity!
He is survived by his siblings in Oklahoma, his two daughters, Denise Kesner Davis (Bruce), Michelle Kesner Grantham; his 3 grandchildren Kenneth Tillman Grantham, III, Jennifer Davis Conder, Sarah Elizabeth Graham and his 5 great-grandchildren, Blakely, Caleb, Brooklyn, Ryder and Kennedy.
