Evelyn Aline Smith was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world after a brief illness on December 4, 2021 at age 81. She now resides on the other side, where the roses never fade.
She was born to Edgar and Myrna Smith on August 3, 1940. In her early teen years, Evelyn met the love of her life, Don.Together, they had 7 children: Jimmy, John, Vickie, Rita, Anita, Lisa, and Wesley. She had 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and some great-great grandchildren, too.
Evelyn loved all sorts of animals, flowers, cooking, music, and learning. Throughout her life she cared for dogs, cats, birds, ducks, chickens, even cows. Her favorite flowers were roses, but found beauty in all blooms. She made the best lemon pies, dressing, and stews in Texas. She found so much joy in cooking for her family. She was always reading, writing, and learning more about the world and her place in it. She was a firecracker of a woman, strong-willed and spoke her mind. She was tiny in body but larger than life in spirit.Her life passion inspired her children to live life to the fullest and enjoy the little things.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 4-8 PM. The funeral will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10 AM, followed by graveside service and a lunch reception for family and friends. The viewing, funeral, and lunch reception will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
