Eugenia Ayala, passed away on Wednesday the 14th at 11:40pm in Dallas. “Quena”, as she was lovingly known, had just turned 74 years old and had just celebrated her 39th wedding anniversary. She was born in McAllen, Texas but was raised in Torreon, Mexico by her mother Amalia Olivares.
She was raised by a single mother and was the oldest of five siblings. Being the oldest meant she had to take on responsibilities, which she did, when she moved to Dallas alone at 17 years old, to work and send money back home to her mother and siblings. She ended up bringing her mother and siblings up to Dallas, many years later. When she became an adult, she ended up learning that she had many half siblings and was able to meet and cultivate relationships with those siblings, creating a whole entire other family in Mexico. She was a lover of clothes, shoes and accessories and had amassed an impressive collection over her many years. She also loved her pictures. Even when photos became digital, she still enjoyed a good print.
Eugenia is survived by her husband, Eliseo Ayala Jr and her children Lisa Fry and husband Roger Fry, Sophia Ayala, and Eliseo “Bobby” Ayala III; grandchildren, Drake Fry, Melissa Ayala, and Angelina Ellison; and many brothers and sisters, both full and half. She was preceded in death by her mother.
