God called Ethel Louise Johnson home to Him on April 29, 2017, to be with her mother, Ruby Alexander, who passed on April 26, 2017. Ethel was born on July 14, 1945 in Atlanta, Texas to the union of Leon Alexander, Sr. and Ruby Alexander. Ethel was the oldest of nine children. She is survived by her siblings Leon Alexander, Jr., Tommy Alexander, Reginald Alexander, Delores Pickett (Robert), Patricia Love (Larry), Janice Hill (Paul), Yolanda Miller (Barry). She is preceded in death by her brother Leroy Alexander.
Ethel had three children- Derrick Johnson, Sr., Nichelle Smith Webster, Claudette Hart (Ray Scott). She left behind eight grandchildren – DeAngela Washington, Keidra Washington, Derrick Johnson, II (one loving daughter-in-law, Angela Johnson), Toddraune Smith, Tylar Webster, Nyle Webster, Jasmine Jache Louise Hart, and Cedric Christopher Louis Hart.
Ethel spent over 20 years employed at Sears, Roebuck & Company. After retirement she dedicated her time to helping others create beautiful memories through wedding and event planning. She was also a foster parent, a child care provider, and a surrogate mother and grandmother to many.
Ethel leaves behind best friends Beverly Belk and Betty McCallister and her sister-in-law Carolyn Johnson. She had numerous other loving relatives and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
