only child of Bessie Colquitt and Edward Bell. She entered into eternal rest on
July 12, 2019. She received her education through the Shreveport Independent
School District and attended Booker T. Washington High School.
Ethel Mae or Mae as she was affectionately called, was married, divorced
and never remarried. She was the proud mother of one son, Thadus “Pop” LaCour.
Ethel Mae accepted Christ at an early age while in Shreveport, Louisiana. She
relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1974 and has remained here until her untimely death.
She was employed as an airplane mechanic with EDM of Texas for over 20 years.
She loved to read, and enjoyed dancing in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Colquitt, and father, Edward Bell,
both whom anxiously awaits her arrival in Heaven.
She leaves to mourn her only child, Thadus and wife Toshea. She has seven
grandchildren (Bre’Ann “B. J.” Geter, Tia “Simone” Shannon, Alexus “Alex”
Morris, Quindon “Q” Hall, Jayla “Jamae” LaCour, Thadus “Junior” LaCour Jr, and
Mia Annissa LaCour) and four great-grandchildren (Tyre “Ty” Shannon, Demetri
“Metri” Summerville, Robynne Edmun, and Jace Morris (to be born) ). She has a
host of family and friends. Mae and Marie Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana,
grew up as sisters, although they were cousins. Jacqueline Cunningham, her niece
was very close to her, as well.
She will surely be missed; however we believe and are confident, yes well
pleased, that to be absent in the body is to be present in the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8, “Rest now Mae, for you have truly earned your Angel Wings.”
