She attended schools in Ballinger and graduated from Ballinger High School in May of 1968. She moved to Dallas in June of 1968 and started college to become a registered nurse through St. Paul School of Nursing at St. Paul Hospital. Esmeralda completed 3 1/2 years but because of health reasons, she had to give up on her dream. She then went to Dallas Health and Human Services where she worked for 20 years until she retired in July of 2017.
Esmeralda was a social person that was always going the extra mile to help a person and especially if she cared about them. She volunteered for so many causes and organizations and some no one knew until after she died. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, even going to the Holy Land twice. Esmeralda had a loving personality but could discipline just as easily. She loved God, her family, her friends and life. She will be greatly missed
Esmeralda and her family attend Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and have done so for 52 years. She was active with the Faith Formation Classes for 45 years. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and was very involved with the Guadalupanas for 25 years. Esmeralda always had a great love for Our Lord and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
