Enrique “Henry” Rojo, 92, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at his residence in Garland, TX. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend to all who knew and loved him.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico on April 10, 1925 to Jose and Guadalupe Rojo Becerril, Enrique immigrated to the US as a young husband with 3 children. Over the next few decades, he had 10 more children, learned to speak English fluently and became a journeyman welder. He also took seriously his responsibility to his community as an active member of several local organizations. Upon acquiring his GED after his retirement, he went on to pursue his love of learning at Del Mar College well into his senior years. Enrique, with his wife always by his side, developed and relied on a strong Christian faith by which to guide his family. He instilled honesty, generosity and a strong work ethic in his family and enjoyed being surrounded by them. Among his many interests, he enjoyed playing chess, listening to music, reading and history.
Enrique’s survivors include his wife of more than 70 years, Margarita Rojo Gomez; their 11 children: Margaret Rojo, Rosa Maria Rojo, Doris (David) Rodriguez, Yolanda Rojo (Tony Gregg), Gloria Rojo, Minerva Rojo, Joe Rojo, Diana (Uriel) Gardea, Laura (Antonio) Delgado, Becky (Jeff) Cook, and Rick Rojo; daughter-in-law, Marsha Rojo; Enrique’s 10 grandchildren include Edward (Maricela) Saldaña, Daniel Rojo, Teri (Conrad) Read, Gabriel Rodriguez, Monica (AJ) Martinez, Ryan Gregg, Sophia Gregg, Adrian Gardea, Allison Montague and Amanda Gardea (Bobby Phelan). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Kayla & Cathy Saldaña; Shelby (Trevor) Mann; Devin Rojo; Elijah Martinez; Beau Read; Kambry, Alexa and Natalia Gardea; and one great-great-grandson, Bryson Mann. He leaves behind his sister Concepcion (Pedro) Lagunas Rojo. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricardo and Enrique (Henry) Rojo, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225. A funeral service will be held at 12:00p.m. on Monday, November 27, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
