Elvin Turner

Elvin Turner departed this life on December 4, 2022. He was born to the union of Willie and Esther Lee Turner on May 16, 1933, in Gilmer, Texas. Elvin received his education at Valley View School (K-12). After graduation Elvin joined the United States Army where he served from the years of 1953 to 1955. After the military Elvin worked for Union Carbide for several years. After retirement from Union Carbide, he worked as a past time at the American Airlines center.Elvin accepted Christ at Valley View Baptist Church of Gilmer, Texas and when he moved to Dallas, Texas he joined Hopewell Baptist Church.

Elvin was preceded in death by both of his parents, Willie and Esther Lee Turner, his brother Orlan Turner, sister-in law- Lois Diana Turner, and sister Willie Esther Young. Elvin leaves to cherish his memories: a brother Cornell Wright of Dallas, Texas; Four children- Carolyn Turner, Phil Brooks (Michelle), Jerald Turner (Rachel) and Sona Cook (Travis Sr.). Six grandchildren- Jer-Rin Turner, Jordan Brooks, Keavin Turner, Travis Cook, Ashley Brooks, and Keana Turner; three great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Elvin will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N. Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75247.
