Ella Marie Frazier was born on November 26, 1941, in Hillsboro, Texas, to the parentage of Joseph Brown and Christina A. Brown. Ella had many interests while attending high school, including playing piano, singing in the choir, twirling as a majorette, and playing clarinet in the band. Graduating from Peabody High School in 1959, Ella enrolled at Paul Quinn College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1964 and began her teaching career. She would later earn a Master’s in Education from East Texas State University in Commerce in 1983.
In 1964 Ella married the love of her life, Benjamin F. Frazier. To this union a son, Jermaine F. Frazier, was born in 1973. Ella and Ben were married for 47 years until his passing in 2011. Ella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. She spent a lifetime loving and caring for her family at home and her extended family in the classroom. Ella was a committed educator who directly impacted the lives of more than 1500 students, faculty, and staff during her 53 years of Teaching. She received many accolades for her outstanding achievements, but always remained humble. Ella continuously provided children and adults in her community with resources and educational materials to help improve their reading and writing skills. She was an avid volunteer and comedian at the local nursing homes and her church. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was an active member at Koinonia First Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas.
On August 20, 2021, Ella departed this life peacefully with her son by her side. She leaves to cherish her precious memories; her son, Jermaine F. Frazier, Sr.; bonus daughter, Jori Mann; special sister, Nelda Harper; seven grandchildren: Jermaine F. Frazier, Jr., Brandi Turner, Tionne Cormier, Snoop Roach, William David Mann, III, Jaylon J. Frazier, and Jordan F. Frazier; and a host of former colleagues and friends.
