Elizabeth was born in Dallas County on August 3rd, 1920 to Martin and Amelia Conoly. She left this world on Christmas Day, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Hugh L. Moore, her infant granddaughter, Weona Brock, and her six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan Moore, her daughter, Camille Ryan, her granddaughter, Leah Brock, grandsons Kyle and Casey Moore, and Patrick, Danny, and Chris Ryan.
Elizabeth attended secretarial school, and later became a devoted employee of Sears, Roebuck, and Company for 20 + years before retiring. She was a faithful member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church for many years and later St. Patrick’s. She loved to travel and went on several cruises with her husband. After his death in 1992, she began traveling to several places across the country with her friend, Laura Blackburn, who owned a bus touring company. She belonged to a neighborhood book club and enjoyed working in her yard.
A very loving and caring soul, Elizabeth put everyone else first. She was the “Florence Nightingale” of the family, always taking care of others including her mother, her husband, three of her brothers, and even her daughter-in-law’s mother. She loved her family dearly and her house was the place to be for birthdays, holidays, and weekly Sunday lunches. Friends were always welcome and the perpetually full candy jar on the kitchen counter was a must for everyone who came by.
She cherished her grandchildren and always made them feel special. They were the joy of her life. They in turn loved and adored their “Memez”. Her family and friends will miss her deeply and remember her lovingly. Her grandson, Kyle, perhaps expressed their thoughts best: “To one of the most important women in my life, to one of Earth’s sweetest and most caring beings to walk its’ surface, and to God’s newest angel……rest in peace, Memez, I love you more than words can describe.”
The Rosary will be recited at 7pm with visitation from 6-8pm, Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be 10am, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Mausoleum, 3235 Lombardy Ln. Dallas, 75220. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
