Elizabeth "Betsy" Bartholow Garza

She will always be celebrated as a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister to all that knew and loved her. She was born on March 23, 1970 to Franklin and Sherry Bartholow. Betsy married Jesus “Jesse” Garza on May 25, 1996.

She graduated from Lakehill Preparatory School with honors in 1989. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Trinity University in 1993. She was a member of the Gamma Chi Delta sorority and kept lifelong friendships with her sisters. Betsy was a kind soul who focused on her family, friends, and pets.

She enjoyed taking vacations with her family to sunny destinations, sitting by the pool or beach. She loved watching TV and sitting by the fireplace. She loved dogs, especially Westies, and had several during her lifetime. Betsy always put her family first.

She is survived by husband Jesse Garza, son Luke Garza, daughter Jillian Garza, mother Sherry Bartholow, brother Bradley Bartholow and his wife Nicole, nephew Brandon and niece Julia of Dallas, Texas, mother-in-law Maria Garza, brother-in-law Al Garza and his wife Esther, sister-in-law Leticia Perez and her husband Dan, brother-in-law Ismael Garza, of McAllen, Texas, aunt Kay Harley and husband Herman, cousin Sherrie Loyd, cousin Vickie Durham and her husband Mike of Benton, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her father Franklin Bartholow, her grandmother and namesake Elizabeth “Betty” Meadows and husband Algur, her grandparents William A. and Gertrude Springer, and grandfather Benjamin H. Bartholow and wife Grace.

The visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of Dallas.
