Elaine Hurd

Was born April 24, 1934 to the parentage of Roy and Irene Calvin.

At the early age of seven (7) she joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The pastor was Rev, B. F. Briggs. She joined the Jr. Choir. Later as a young lady she joined the Usher Board under President Mabel Johnson. Elaine was also a Silver Servant fulfilling the Word of the Lord. She was also recognized as a Golden Member for more than 50 years of service during the 94th church anniversary on February 11, 1996. She also received a Grateful Appreciation for 25 years at the Mount Moriah Day Care Center with service from 1980-2005.

The Angel of the Lord silenced Elaine eternally on July 21, 2018. Her husband, Monroe preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death her parents; two brothers: Roy Calvin and Jack Calvin; two sisters: Alice Johnson and Maggie Benton; one son: Carnell Calvin.

She leaves to cherish her memory:David Taylor (Mary), Donald Taylor (Kathleen), Dana Hinskton (Phyllis), two daughters: Phyllis Wafer (Charles), and Gwendolyn Chambers (Thomas), Grandchildren: Laressa Dent, Thomas Jacobie Chambers, Ianthia Foley, Ijett Foley, Carnell Calvin, Jr. and Tajhma Calvin. Great Grandchildren: Jalen Foley, and Evan Straughter; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
