Ed Pittman was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son. He passed away on November 30, 2023 at the age of 66. His departure leaves an indelible void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Edward Lee Pittman was born in Lubbock, TX on May 15, 1957, to the parents of Lawrence C Pittman and Mattie Gould Pittman. Preceded him in death his father, Lawrence Clarence Pittman; brother, Major Ray Pittman and son, Jeremy Rideaux. Ed accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Word of Life Bible Teaching Center in Dallas, TX and was a faithful member.
He attended Estacado High School and graduated in 1975. Early in life, Ed’s passion for electronics led him to the National Education of Technology School where he obtained an associate degree in Electronic Engineering. He had long-term employment with Varo Semiconductor, Chrysler, and Dallas Semiconductor as environmental engineer & lead laboratory technician. He was a passionate entrepreneur; he owned & operated a Heating & Air Conditioning business for 38 years.
Edward was a man of many talents and passions. His artistic flair was evident in the beautiful paintings and drawings he created, reflecting his unique perspective on the world. His creations were a testament to his creative mind and love for the arts.
Ed was a grill master, and he customized his grills. His love for grilling brought joy to family and friends alike. Smoking briskets was one of his specialties that he paired with his original “Pitt-sauce”. Not only could he smoke meat, but he was also an excellent baker and was famous for his homemade German Chocolate cake, 7 up cake and specialty cookies. Baking specialty cookies would often be done with his grandchildren by his side.
Basketball held a special place in Ed's heart. Whether he was playing or cheering from the sidelines, his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. The camaraderie and competition brought him great joy, and his love for basketball became a cherished aspect of his life.
Beyond his artistic and outdoor pursuits, Ed was deeply passionate about information technology. His innovative spirit shone through as he pitched creative designs, including a mobile app that involved switching virtual backgrounds—a testament to his forward-thinking approach to technology.
Those that will cherish memories of Ed are his beloved wife of 27 years, Dianne Pittman; mother, Mattie Jewel Gould Pittman; children, Corhona Dawson, Knashia Dawson, Candise Sneed (William), Brandie Rideaux, Jacob Rideaux and James Rideaux; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clarence Pittman (Cassandra), Margie Roberts (Allen), Billy Pittman (Jo), Ruby Adams (Darryl), Kenneth Pittman, Robbie Pittman (Beverly), Cheryl Barnes and Sara Carr (Price); sister in love, Betty Pittman and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
