Editha Jean Crow, age 81 of Springer, OK, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Plano, TX. She was born in Ardmore, OK to Charles L and Charlie Thompson on December 17, 1933. As a young child she moved to Dallas. While attending college in Ft. Worth she met a young serviceman and fell in love. In 1956, Editha married Joseph Stanley Kaminski and moved to New Britain, CT. There she was quickly accepted into a loving family of Polish Catholics and learned the delights of Polish food. She and Joe had two sons, Richard and Bryan, who were their pride and joy. After Joe died of a brief illness, Editha returned to Dallas to raise her young children with the help of her family. In Dallas she had the support and love of her incredibly loving and “firecracker” mother, Charlie, her brother and sister-in-law and many other family members. She went back to school to become a nurse and worked for 30 years at Gaston Episcopal Hospital. It was in Dallas at Lakeside Baptist Church where she met the love of her life, Jerald Crow. They married in 1990, retired and settled into their “Crow’s Nest”, as they called it, in Springer, OK.
Oklahoma was a place of great joy for Editha. She enjoyed their property, friends and church family. She loved helping others as a volunteer Hospice nurse and received awards for her service. A great day consisted of worshipping her Savior and going for a root beer float after church. God was good and life was great. Through the death of a spouse and being left with two young children, God was faithful and sent blessings. Through surviving breast cancer twice, God was faithful and sent blessings. Through watching her beloved husband of 20 years die of cancer, God was faithful sent blessings. Through her suffering with Alzheimer’s, God was faithful and sent blessings. God has been great and has blessed her now by calling her home.
Editha is survived by her sons, Bryan (Ruth) Kaminski of Plano, TX and Richard (Lynne) Kaminski of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, Clayton and Blair; nieces, Shannon Doyle, Cheryl Ann Lemay and nephew, Shea Byers; and a number of other relatives.
A memorial service to celebrate Editha’s life will be held on Thursday November 12th at 3:00PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral home, 7990 West President George Bush Freeway in Plano.
