Dwayne Melvin Edwards aka "Peanut" was born September 4, 1958, to the late Alice Lucille Edwards and Melvin Lewis Edwards. After his parents death, he was raised by his aunt, JoAnne Allen-Calloway. He receive his general education from the Cleveland Public School system and graduated from the mighty John F. Kennedy High School in 1977. Dwayne was joined in holy matrimony to Altha Renee Hogue in 1980 and later settled in Dallas, Texas. To this union they raised two wonderful children, DyAnna and Dwayne.
He served his country, in the U.S. Army, with pride, honor and courage. With an honorable discharge in 1980. He was stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas and completed a tour in Germany. He was also employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, in which he retired in 2017.
Peanut will always be remembered as a #1 Cleveland Browns fan. He always felt he was a part of the "DAWG" pound. He was especially proud of his Browns man-cave. One like no other. Friends and loved ones consider him the "Life of the Party". He enjoyed music, dancing and was noted for being best dressed. He cherished spending time with his grandsons and friends thru fishing. That was his peaceful place. Peanut was loved by many.
On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Dwayne Melvin Edwards was welcomed into his eternal home of Glory. Dwayne was welcomed by his parents, Melvin and Alice Edwards; brother, LaMont Calloway; niece, LaQreisha Edwards (Kee Kee) and brother-in-law Bandele Tyehimba (Rickey Hogue).
Dwayne is survived by his wife, Altha Renee Edwards "Naki"; daughter, DyAnna "Boog"; son, Dwayne "Wiggles" (Brandi); sister, Theresa Edwards; brothers, Donny, Dennis and Tamone (Ice) Calloway; sister-in-laws, Pat, Belinda, Rosalyn, Michelle Hogue and Akwete Tyehimba (Michelle); grandchildren, JaVaun, Sir Vincent, Vinyaun, Kaiden and Dwayne Maddox; nephews, Willie (lil Will), Brandon, Bambata and Sekou; nieces, MarTisha (T-Redd), Adjowa and Briel and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
