He was born in Smith County, Kansas, on March 21, 1929 to Ray and Myrtle Arment. Duane was happily married to Norma Jean Strong for 63 years, and together they visited all seven continents and enjoyed annual holidays in Hawaii.
After teaching in a one room schoolhouse for two years to earn money for college, he attended Kansas State University majoring in Agricultural Administration, followed by Iowa State receiving a Masters in Economics.
He joined the Navy in 1952 serving honorably in the Korean War and retired with the rank of Captain in the Naval Reserves. Duane held senior level positions with several Fortune 500 companies in Strategic Planning and Economics including Caterpillar, Massey Ferguson and National Gypsum.
He is survived by his wife Jean and their five children, Terry, Debra, Carol, David and Keith (wife Nadine) and three grandchildren, Ryan, Preston and Jackson.
A visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest on Tuesday, April 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 in the afternoon.
