Dr. Leon Horowitz has joined his beloved wife, having passed away on Thursday, September 29th, 2011 at the age of 86 years old. Having come from immigrant parents and humble beginnings, Dr. Horowitz created an amazing life of caring, love, compassion, adventure, intellect, and generosity for himself, his wife and family, and his practice and patients. Experiences such as his youth in Brighton Beach, New York where he was Bar Mitzvahed and his capture and time spent as a Prisoner of War during WWII solidified his love and commitment of his Jewish faith and love of his country, to which he was committed throughout his life. As a husband and father, he supported his wife’s political aspirations and his children’s’ life paths. As a dedicated physician, he remained committed to the best and most effective care he could possibly provide to his patients in his practice of pediatric allergy. His professional legacy remains today the vibrant Allergy Clinic of Tulsa. Dr. Horowitz and his wife enjoyed a life of world travel to distant parts of the globe where he provided philanthropic medical care. Dr. Horowitz was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY, and New York University Undergrad and Medical School Class of 1952. He is survived by his five children and their spouses and seven grandchildren. There was not a finer, more ethical, honest, man of integrity whom we were fortunate enough to have as a father, physician, and friend. He is loved and will be missed. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at 10:30am at Congregation Beth Israel, 6100 Pleasant Run Road, Colleyville, TX, 76034 followed by a private family burial. In honor of Dr. Leon Horowitz, donations may be made to American Ex-Prisoners of War (www.axpow.org), of which he was a member.
