Doug grew up in Duncanville before his family moved to Richardson in 1973. While completing his education at Berkner High School, Doug discovered his love for the drama club and debate club and recently reminded us again of his enjoyment in participating in those two programs. Doug also pursued another hidden love of music after high school graduation, before settling down in the locksmith business. After a brief hiatus from being a locksmith to help his dad launch a family business, Doug returned to the locksmith trade where he remained until retiring in 2018.
Having briefly lived in Houston at a time when his children were relocated, everyone returned home to Richardson in December 2003. Doug and his children joined Jupiter Road Baptist Church, later to become known as Five Stone Community Church, and faithfully attended weekly alongside his parents. He came to know Jesus Christ and loved reading his Bible.
Though Doug loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play, westerns, fruit, acting, and music, the thing he loved most was being a dad to his children Bailey McKenna Pruitt and Maxwell Connor Pruitt. He loved having a daughter he called his princess, who was a daddy’s girl all the way and a son who played and breathed football and knew stats, players, and teams, like no one else. When they were younger, Doug enjoyed Sunday morning service at church followed by lunch with the family. The afternoon might be a day at the pool with his kids before returning home for evening church service.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Bailey McKenna Pruitt; his son, Maxwell Connor Pruitt; his sister, Cheryl Lynn Baugh; his brother, Paul Edward Pruitt and numerous loved ones who will miss him tremendously.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Allen and Evelyn Inita Pruitt.
We respectfully request in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to an alcohol treatment program designed to achieve lasting sobriety.
