He graduated from Bryan Adams High School, and received a BS degree from Eastern Oklahoma University. He started his military career as a US Marine. He later joined the Army and was a member of the 7th Army Parachute Team, traveling the world representing the United States in competitions. He ended his military career in the US Air Force. Because of all his parachute jumps, he had a 100% disability from the Veterans Administration.
The last few years he had a passion for breeding and raising goats. He also loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Kerr and Minnie McKenzie Kerr. He is survived by his spouse, Sharon Shirley Kerr, and his children, Douglas Jr., Scott, Shawn, and Sunnie and 9 grand children and 2 great grand children.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, June 19 at 2:00pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home Event Center.
