Born April 4, 1951, in Pampa, TX, to Paddy and Frank Adams, Douglas was a man of remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication. He graduated from the University of North Texas, where he also met the love of his life, Pamela. They married in Dallas on June 7, 1973, embarking on a journey that spanned over 50 years and blessed them with two children, Tyler and Taylor.
Douglas began his 30-year career in journalism starting as a reporter for WBAP. Later, he took on pivotal roles at KXAS-NBC 5, from reporter to Dallas bureau chief. In 1983, he became one of the youngest news directors in the country. After leading local news stations in Decatur, Ill. and Virginia Beach, Va., he returned to KXAS as president and general manager in 1991, where his tenure was marked by innovation and excellence until his retirement in 2000.
Douglas' passion for the arts found new expression post-retirement as he became the general manager of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Later, he led as president & CEO of the Colorado Symphony, then returned to the DSO as president.
Douglas and Pamela explored the Colorado outdoors and never grew tired of each other's companionship.
His integrity, kindness and visionary spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Pamela Adams; son, Tyler Adams, and grandson, Calder Adams; daughter, Taylor; and sister, Lori Jones.
