Dorothy Jean Dixon, affectionately known as Jeannie, Jean, Aunt Jeannie, Mama Jeannie, GiGi, and Skeet, was born to the union of James Youngblood and Dorothy Mae Youngblood on March 12, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. She attended Julia C. Frazier Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Dallas.
Dorothy was well-loved by all who knew her. She was the mother of five children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was employed as a household manager and following in her mother’s footsteps, enjoyed a career as a caterer. Cooking was not just her career, it was her hobby, which she gifted to all who entered her home. While she had many incredible recipes for the amazing dishes she cooked, her family and friends anxiously awaited the next time she would make her giant burgers with a fried egg or her southern fried chicken. Her other hobbies included estate sale shopping and playing cards around the family table – Gin Rummy and Spades (her family nickname for Spades was “Skeet”)
On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Dorothy Jean Youngblood Dixon entered into her eternal home of glory. She was welcomed by her mother, Dorothy, her father, James, and her older sister, Janice and her stepfather, Maurice.
Dorothy’s Life and Legacy will always be remembered by her sisters and brothers, Zenobia Lipscomb, Sandra Stinson, Charles Dotson, Sr. (Denise), Rhonda Dotson and Michael Dotson, Sr. (Shelia); her five children, Cherry Youngblood, Terri Youngblood, Darlene Dixon, James Patrick Dixon and Daryl Dixon, Sr.; grandchildren, Kenneth Youngblood, Sr. (Raquel), Danielle Youngblood, Billy Parker, Meghan Stuckey, Blair Dixon, Brandi Parker, Morgan Stuckey and Daryl Dixon, Jr.; great grandchildren, Samuel, Kenneth, Jr., Heaven, Drake, Raiya, Dior, Braylen and Zara, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
