Dorothy Jean “Dotty” (Berlin) Tidwell, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. She was born on September 23, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to William David “W.D.” Berlin and Elizabeth (Nall) Berlin. Dotty was a lifelong resident of Dallas, graduating from Adamson High School in 1946. She faithfully served her community for over 30 years, running Tidwell Service Center at 1205 N. Hampton in Oak Cliff. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Tidwell; beloved daughter, Susan Bridges; son-in-law, Charles Greeson; step-daughter, Linda Holloway; brother, William Spencer “Buddy” Berlin; granddaughter, Julie Slaughter; and great-grandson, James Petree. Left to honor Dotty and remember her abundant, enduring love are her sisters, Mary Beth Ek and Cynthia Bruce (Terry); her daughters, Catherine Nixon and Diane Greeson; step-son, Tommy Tidwell (Dawn); step-daughter, Becky Thompson (Pat); 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends and relatives at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at noon at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
