Dorothy Payne was born on January 4, 1921 in Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at home December 21, 2013. A member of an old Dallas family and daughter of Ida and C.C. Smith. Her father was the construction manager of Buckner Children's Home. She enjoyed many years as an accountant. During her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening and the special times with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Barney Payne Jr. She is survived by daughters, Sherry Duffer and son in law, Fred; Gwen Bell; grandsons, Michael Alberts and Mark Alberts; wife, Alisha; brother, Clyde Smith; sister, Celesse Bevis and many loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm.
