Doris Arlene Jordan, age 98 of Dallas, Texas entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Wesley House in Bonham, Texas. Doris, a faithful follower of Christ, was born on November 7, 1926, in Lakota, North Dakota, the daughter of Herb and Laura Westensee. She fell in love and married the love of her life, Edward Leslie (Les) Jordan, on November 15, 1946, in Belen, New Mexico. Doris’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Doris was a resident of Dallas for over 60 years. As a young lady she made her way from her home and family in North Dakota to New Mexico where she worked as one of the original “Harvey Girls” and later an operator for the Santa Fe Railroad. After moving to Dallas, she was a homemaker, longtime member of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church and the Dallas Athletic Club, where she was an avid golfer. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved sewing and spending time with her loving family. She created timeless traditions hosting family holidays and gatherings which will continue to live on. Doris is survived by her 3 children: Janice Mach and husband, James of Houston; Ronna Whalen, and husband, Steve of Telephone; and David Jordan and wife, Kim of McKinney; six grandchildren: Julie Nobles and husband, Jonathan; Sara Orsi and husband, Troy; Jonathan Whalen and wife, Holly; Laura McConnell and husband, Adam; Ryan Jordan and wife, Natalie; and Kathryn Jordan; eight great-grandchildren: Grace and Jordan Nobles, Kyle and Emma Orsi, Nolan and Emerson Whalen, and Sloane and Ben McConnell. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Leslie Jordan, her parents and siblings Warren, Mavis, Evelyn and Harlan. We rejoice in her eternal peace in the arms of our Savior.
