Doris Erwin was born on September 21, 1943 to her beloved parents George and Fannie Mae Clay. She transitioned on June 26, 2020. She was born in Tyler, Texas and had a twin brother and also 10 other siblings. As a young 14 year old girl, Doris was involved with the church and became a Sunday school teacher at Turner Street Baptist Church. She later married Bobby Ray Erwin and attended night school after they married and she graduated from Emmitt Scott High School. They moved to Quit-man, Texas for a few years and they had their first 3 children Lagail, Bobby Ray Jr, and Pamela. They then moved to Dallas, Texas where she had Felicia, Bernard, and Latasha.
She became a nurse and worked many years in the medical field. In her free time she loved to be with her family and friends also play Spades & Dominos. To be honest, she love to cheat a little bit when she played cards. She loved fast cars and raced her car at the Yellow Belly Drag Strip! She was known as “Shug” at the racing track and love talking on the CB radio. One thing about Doris, she always kept a gun and wasn’t afraid to use it lol. She loved music like Luther & Jonny Taylor they were some of her favorites beside her gospel music. She also loved her some Dallas Cowboys! She bleed blue..
Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and most of all friend! She leaves behind a brother and sister, 5 kids, and a host of grandchildren & great grandchildren. She will be surely missed in this life, be blessed in heaven and we love you mom!
