Donald Lee Boyer, BIG "D", son of Vincent Lee Boyer and Sandra Mayo Boyer AKA Sandra Mayo Henderson, was born on October 22, 1980, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. This is the same hospital that his Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother were born at - he was a 4th generation "Baylor Baby". He attended Mendenhall Elementary, Bowman Middle School, and St. Mark's Catholic School. Donald was joined in Holy Matrimony to April Dyanna West in Plano, Texas on August 15, 2003. Together they raised two beautiful children, Hunter Gage Boyer and Rylee K Boyer. Donald was a Christian and worshipped in the Catholic faith.
He suffered from serious illnesses for the last 3 years and was waiting to be evaluated for a kidney and liver transplant, yet he rarely complained. When asked how he was doing, it was always, "I'm ok mom, don't worry." He was my sunshine baby, always happy and full of life as a baby and child...and...he was persistent as anyone who knew him could attest to...
That persistency was never more noticed then at the "Toys R Us" store as a child...I guess that was training for the career he chose...
He spent his career in the automobile industry - starting his career at Legend Autos in Garland, Texas as a Salesman. Donald left there as their #2 Salesman, although he would say #1. He went on to work for Stadium Auto in Arlington, Texas where he left as Finance Director. From there, he joined Clay Cooley's dealership as Finance Director and General Manager.
Donald was known in the Automotive Industry in Dallas, Texas as someone who could get the job done. He worked "Bell to Bell", which in the auto industry means you work 60 plus hours per week with very little time off. He loved the industry and his knowledge in Automobile Financing was second to none.
His family knew him as a hardworking man, one that loved his entire family, and was willing to work "Bell to Bell" to support and take care of his wife and their children.
His mind was willing to hang on, for he loved life to the fullest, but his body was tired of end stage renal failure and stage 4 liver disease. The last three years of his life was spent being in various hospitals and rehab facilities. It was a huge toll on both his body and mind...his body pleaded to go home to his heavenly Father.
It is said that mind over matter will prevails, but in Donalds case his body just wore out.
His heart of gold said "No More" and stopped beating.
He was in the hospital ICU ward when he passed on July 7, 2023. He was 42 years old surround by his wife, children, mother, brother, and stepfather.
Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Elaine Mayo; grandparents, Patricia Bloodsworth and Donald Boyer (whom he was named after); aunt, Linda Mayo; cousin, Christopher Mayo; stepfather, Mike Orr and father-in-law, Gary West aka "Pawpa".
His life will forever be cherished by his family that survived him; his wife, April Boyer and his children, Hunter and Rylee Boyer; mother, Sandra "Sandy" Mayo Henderson; stepfather, Stan Henderson; father, Vince Boyer; stepmother, Vanessa Bradbury; sister, Whitney and brothers, John (Melissa) Boyer, Vincent (Keli) Boyer and Michael (Jennifer) Orr; nieces, Jasmine "Jazzy", Gabrielle "Gabby", Ashlee, Kailee, and Aubree; nephews, Nicholas "Nick" and Joshua "Josh".
Donald had the courage to face his life and illnesses with all the ups and downs included.
He had a plaque in his hospital room - it read:
"This is my command -
Be strong and courageous!
Do not be afraid or discouraged.
For the Lord your God is with you, wherever you go."
Donald Lee Boyer had courage!!
I pray that his family and friends have the same type of courage as Donald as he leaves this earthly world. "This is not his good bye, this is until we meet again."
His loving Mother and Family
