I knew Greg at work and ALWAYS enjoyed his company. He was thoughtful and always helpful to a persons needs, never complaining....Loved to share gardening stories, tips.

Mike and I were friends of Greg's, and next-door-neighbors for 18 or so years.  One of the qualities I loved about Greg was his sense of humor.  He also had that yen for adventure.  I remember one day we had torrential rains; the rain eventually stopped, but then came the flash flooding.  We both came outside; I was a little concerned that the flood waters might continue and reach our houses.  Not Greg.  He disappeared, and returned with a canoe we had in our back yard.  We canoed down Galena Street, laughing ourselves senseless!  (When we reached the end of the street, Greg--- ever the gentleman--- wouldn't let me crawl out of the canoe and help pull it back upstream.)  Later, as we were heading to our respective homes, Greg called over his shoulder "Next, we parachute off our roofs!"  There could never be a better neighbor; you knew he had your back.  I do so look forward to seeing him again, when I'm called home.  Greg will forever hold a piece of our hearts.

My best friend, someone you could count on for anything at anytime.  The main thing about him was he never wanted anyone to worry about him.  The one thing I will never forget him saying “Don't Worry, I'm Bullet Proof”!    I have known Greg from the time I started working at Varo.  His sense of humor could lift anyone's spirits.  It was not long before we hit it off.  I had only lived in Dallas for a couple of years, from a small town and not too many friends.   I started meeting his friends on his bowling team.  Man, what a bowler!  He was also a great outdoor enthusiast.  One of his proudest possessions is his Jeep.   His signature parking was to have both tires on the right side parked on top of the curb the left side in the street.  He did a lot of four wheeling in the mud.  “If it's not covered in mud, you are not having fun”!  His friends at work would go out to the parking lot at break so he could tell them the story and show them the results.  It would be spotless the next day.  He was always working on that thing, buying something new to add to it.  I can't tell you how many times I helped him take it apart and put it back together again.  His eyes would always light up when he showed off the latest thing he had done to it.  I think his mission was to make it as high off the ground as he could so he could laugh at short little me trying to climb up in it.  He took me sailing on his catamaran, never been sailing before.  He said he would take it easy.  I knew I was in trouble when his friend Mike and he were laughing and saying something about “flying the trapeze”.  They were having the best time while I was holding on so tight that my knuckles were turning white.  He told me to relax and become part of the boat; that worked out so much better.  This was the first of many sailing trips.  He also decided to grow his own vegetables.  His garden was larger than what most people have for a back yard.  He grew everything from peppers to corn.  He had a beagle named “Buddy” that he trained to do all kinds of trick and Buddy would howl every time Greg asked him to sing or if he liked girls.  What a character, he worked into his answer machine.  He always took care of my dog when I was out of town, she and Buddy were quite an item.  I remember the day he came into work and said “we are all going to get dirt bikes”!  Well, he had us all convinced.  Never had a dirt bike before but he was an excellent cross country instructor.  He always took his teaching serious; at the end of the day was when the jokes of my abilities came out.  We made several weekend trips and I got better, never close to as good as Greg.   He had a natural talent for so many things.  A group of us started going to the dirt track races nearly every weekend.  I remember one weekend when I went over to his house to help him work on his Jeep.  We took off to a race east of Dallas.  There was a big hill of dirt in the parking lot and of course Greg had to park with the front of the Jeep almost straight up in the air.  We considered sitting on the grill and watching the race from the parking lot.  We were laughing and having such a good time we did not realize that the gas was running out of his gas tank.  We did not get far down the freeway until we were out of gas.  That was back when it was safer to catch a ride plus we thought it would be safe enough since there was two of us.  An 18-wheeler gave us a ride, another first for me.  He stopped on the side of the freeway by a gas station.  Greg was the first one out and he totally disappeared.  We did not notice the 10 foot bar ditch on the side of the road.  I got the feel of what it would be like to jump out of a third floor window, Greg said to “tuck and roll”.  Greg had a lot of friends and thankfully Sammy was one of them.  He recognized the familiar Jeep on the side of the road and doubled back to pick us up and be sure we got the Jeep going and make it home.   Greg had the racing bug big time.  He cut an ad out of the paper for a Micro Sprint Race Car.  Well over my head but I we went to a race over the weekend and took a look at the car.  He eventually bought it and started racing.  We kept all of the racing stuff at my house so his parents would not know about it because he never wanted them to worry about him.   Sammy came out all the time to help and watch.  I remember how much Greg kidded him one night, for some reason Sammy wore white shorts and a white shirt that time.  Well, it does not take long to get dirty at a race track.  By the end of the night Sammy's white clothes were not so white.  Greg told him he might as well roll around in the mud; his wife probably not let him in the house or let him come to the races with us again.  Randy had racing experience and helped us make the car better.  He even built a new car for Greg.  We even made it to Tulsa one New Years to race, the opening weekend of the Chili Bowl  races.  We continued for several years until the local track closed.  Back to dirt bikes and quads, then dirt bikes only.  He and his brother were awesome on a bicycle.  Greg was the master of wheelies.  We took road trips to out of town races and took my dune buggy to the beach.  The first place to go after buying a new truck was to Keller's for a number 5 and tots to break it in.  He loved to sit in his truck and listen to music, everything from Rod Stewart to Garth Brooks and everything in between.  I lost track of the girl friends he had.  He loved his job and would drop what he was doing to “take care of business at the factory”.  The last couple of years we went back to being spectators, either going to races or getting together to watch them on TV.  Through the years we never spent enough time together, I guess you never do.  I learned a lot from Greg.  A lot of experiences I would never had imagined.  I know he was dealing with pain the last couple of years.  He always shrugged it off when I asked him if he was ok he would say “Don't worry, I'm bullet proof”.  I hope Greg's parents will forgive me for telling some of his secrets.  I know you, Paul, and Ricky are laughing it up in heaven.  You are finally getting your chance to talk with Ricky.  I guess it is my turn to wish I could talk to you.  I know how much you loved your boy Zack, I will take good care of him and give him the best home I can.  Knowing I will see you again will help heal the pain I am going through.  I will greatly miss you Greg.  You taught me a lot - You helped me a lot and we laughed a lot.  May God's Peace Be on You and Your Family, my best friend - you have always been like a brother to me.

Greg's dad shared a prayer that Greg always caried in his wallet.  I asked him to let me add it in the guest book.

"LORD JESUS, I BELIEVE YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD AND THAT YOU DIED ON THE CROSS FOR MY SINS TO SAVE ME FROM ETERNAL DEATH.  I OPEN THE DOOR OF MY LIFE AND RECEIVE YOU AS MY SAVIOR AND LORD.  HELP ME TO BE WHAT YOU WANT ME TO BE      AMEN"

I worked with Greg in the 80's and 90's at Varo/Imo.  Greg was always kind and he had a wonderful sense of humor.   He will be missed by so many!    What a privilege to have had him in our lives.   God bless the Box family.

I started working with Greg in 1989, but my first memories of Greg start before that.  My wife was working at Varo in 1987 and she would come home and tell me about this nice man she worked with (Greg) who had a son the same age as ours and my wife and Greg would talk about their son's  accomplishments.  My wife shared pictures of our son but not Greg until one day my wife came home and told me that Greg finally brought a picture of his son who was a four-legged furry one (a Beagle!).  I worked closely with Greg for the last 22 years and will miss my old friend dearly. God bless Greg, God bless Greg's family.

I never had a chance to meet Greg or Paul but they must have been as wonderful and sweet as their parents! May God grant them peace and understanding.

 I will always remember Greg's smile. Greg always stop by the Security desk at the North lobby and show me his picture of whom he would refer to as his son{His dog) Greg always left me laughing. I worked with Greg over 33 years.  We weathered lots of changes together  through the years.  Greg built the phone system in several of the buildings.  It was a quite a challenge to keep everything going as the equipment aged.  He kept things running like clockwork.  
Greg had a beagle named Buddy.  When you would call him on the phone, he would ask Buddy "Do you like girls?"  Buddy would howl!  Buddy was his best friend.  When Buddy died it was one of the worst days in his life.  He had a hard time talking about it.  It took him 5 years to get the nerve up to get another dog.  He loved Zak like a child.  Then he wondered why it had taken him so long.  
After my first husband died, Greg came over to my house to get an old 1969 Ford Cobra running so that I could sell it.  He wouldn't take any money.  He wanted to help any way he could.  
Greg was a very kind, compassionate and caring man.  The day I was laid off at work we hugged and we both cried.  
I talked to him a few times after I moved to Arizona, it was just like I had seen him yesterday.
I will miss my old friend.  Rest in Peace, Greg.

I've know Greg for more than ten years, he was such a sweet and gentle person. He always made me laugh with amusing stories about his dog, which he referred to as his son! I will truly miss him!

I will always remember Greg as a true and dear friend that I had the privilege to know. I will miss you my friend and think of you often.

Seems like Greg has always been a part of life. We shared so many good times growing up and he was as good friend to me, I loved him like a brother. When I think back on the funnest times of my life, Greg was usually a part of them. He was a kind, caring and loyal friend that will never be forgotten. I knew Greg back in the late 70's - our young and reckless days. One of my favorite memories of him is sailing on his catamaran through not one, not two, but THREE really nasty storms. I'm sad to say we lost touch over the years, but I'm happy to have shared some adventures with Greg. Rest in Peace my friend!

I have known Greg since the early 70's. He was a sweet person . He had a way to make you laugh . I know he will be missed !

Greg was such a gentle man.  Everyone liked him at work and appreciated the endless dedication he gave to his company and fellow colleagues.  He will be missed.

Oh! My!  To think I missed a whole lifetime of not knowing this young man.
