Dolly was born in Detroit, MI, on November 24, 1934, where she attended The Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic School and enjoyed helping the nuns after school. Later, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a cosmetologist, and loved “doing hair”. She met the love of her life, Jim, at 14 years old, in Detroit, where they were married on Jim’s 3 day leave from the United States Army. They were together for 61 years before Jim passed in 2016, living in Birmingham, MI, Beverly Hills, CA, and Dallas, TX, making many friends and great memories. They had one daughter, Debbie Grisham, married to husband, Bobby Grisham. Nana, as she was called, loved her four grandchildren: Ben Grisham of Athens, TX, Matthew Grisham of Seattle, WA, Nicole and husband Guy Griffith of Dallas, TX, and John Grisham of Athens, TX. In her later years, Smith Harmonay was there for her and Jim, taking care of them in Christ’s love.
Dolly loved her friends and family, and gathering them together enjoyed cooking amazing meals, traveling and shopping. She also loved being a full-time homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Dolly was always there whenever you needed her with caring, love, compassion and generosity. Her dogs were very loved by her too.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Roy Liedel; her brother, Ray Pytlak, and wife, JoAnn; and parents, Wanda and Joe Pytlak.
