Denise McCullough-Awadh was born to the late Joseph and Clementine McCullough on October 27, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL. Denise spent her youth in the Jacksonville area until graduating from New Stanton High School in 1966. She later relocated to Nashville, TN to pursue higher education. Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University, she earned a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, TX. She married her loving and devoted husband, Mohammed Awadh, making their home in Houston, TX. Denise served as a faithful employee of the State of Texas until retirement in 2013. She then relocated to the Dallas area in 2015.
Denise was a classy, elegant, and grand lady with great style. She enjoyed good conversation and possessed a jubilant spirit. Her joy and laughter were infectious. She enjoyed entertaining, preparing food for special occasions and holidays as well as sharing time with family.
Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Mohammed Awadh, parents, Joseph and Clementine McCullough; brothers, Samuel McCullough, Gregory McCullough; sister, Renee McCullough and nephew, Stephon Brown.
Denise leaves to cherish warm and wonderful memories; sisters: Lillian McCullough, Stephanie McCullough-Brown, Sharon McCullough (DeSoto, TX); Brothers: Ralph McCullough, Reginald McCullough, (Jacksonville, FL), Lawrence McCullough (Marilyn) (Restin, VA), her favorite uncle and aunt, William and Helen McCullough (Little Rock, AK) and cousin, Ruthie Wilkerson (Jacksonville, FL), along with a host of nephews, nieces, great/grand nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.
