Delores Billingsley Edwards, 95, of Dallas, TX passed away on December 3, 2024. Delores was born in Parkland Hospital, Dallas on November 3,1929 to Pearl and Marion Billingsley. Delores was married to Robert Edwards on July 12, 1946; they were married 75 years.
Delores worked as a secretary for an insurance agency, sold radio commercials, and was partial owner of Sally’s restaurant in Dallas. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spent a great deal of her life raising her children and making a beautiful home for her family. Delores excelled at interior decorating and was known for her creativity. She loved working alongside her husband with teenagers at church and later single adults. Her home was always open to teenagers who wandered over from SamuelI High School during exam breaks or after school. The home was always filled with talk, laughter and lots of chips and dips. Delores and Robert taught Sunday School and church Training Union. She was quick to offer rides to church and was active in Church Visitation. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was always sitting outside watching them play and swim, taking them to the mall, watching movies and taking them to Six Flags.
Delores is preceded in death by her mother (Pearl), Father (Marion), Husband (Robert), Son (Robert/Bob), Daughter-in-Law (Karen), and brother (Raymond).
Delores is survived by her daughter, Pam and Son-in Law, Richard, grandchildren, John and Michael Edwards, Andrew and Anne Strickland, their spouses, Diana, Sarah and Sourabh Ravindran, great grandson, Alê, and her beloved sister Norma Carrell, as well as many special nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Delores will be interred at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
Once a month, Delores and Robert made a special trip to Sams to buy can goods and donate them to the local food pantry. So, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local food pantry or buy a holiday meal in the grocery check-out line to remember Delores. She would love it!
