Deborah Sue Williams, affectionately known as “Sue”, was born on December 6, 1953, in Groesbeck, TX to Hazard Caldwell “H.C.” Kirven and Willie Mae Kirven. Sue was called home to glory peacefully at LakeWest Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas on December 26, 2023, at the age of 70.
After relocating to Dallas, during her formative years, Sue attended Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School and South Oak Cliff High School. She went on to attend El Centro College and Allstate Business College where she received her clerical degree and then became an employee of the college.
On August 19, 1970, Ira James Williams, II and Deborah Sue Kirven were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union, two children were born, Kira Dechelle Williams and Ira James Williams, III. Sue welcomed her third child, DeMorris Keon Williams, on August 16, 1985.
In 1981, Sue (along with her mother and her children) joined Marsalis Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Sue worked as a Clerk for the United States Postal Service until she retired in 1993. She knew every physical location in Dallas, every suburb, every city and every state throughout the country just by you telling her the zip code. After retiring from the Post Office, Sue was a clerk for the Dallas Post Tribune, she had served as the Church’s Secretary and held various other administrative roles throughout her career.
Sue had a true passion for cooking and after that her second love was for Jazz.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Robert Lee Bryant, all of Dallas, Texas.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Kira Walker (Lynn) and her two sons, Ira Williams, III and DeMorris Keon Williams (Neshunta); her three grandsons, Kelvin Christian, Kaeden Lee, and DeMorris Keon Williams, II and her sweetheart, her only granddaughter, Lauryn Kaye Williams; her sister Barbara Ann Craig (Jack) of Mexia, TX and her brother Melvin Bryant (Thelia) of Austin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
