Although she lived in Dallas most of her life, her residence (1947-1948) was near Emory, Texas. There was no electricity, but well water was available. She attended the Emory school at that time. She lived most of her childhood at 824 W. 8th St. in Dallas. Her baptism was on July 15, 1955 in Dallas at the age 14. She survived many storms, but one that stood out to her was the tornado of April 2, 1957 in Dallas, which she witnessed on the way home from school. Her marriage was on March 10, 1960 at the Old Red Court House in Downtown Dallas to Dennis Michael "Mike" Vail (1940-1998).
She worked at NASA as a secretary in Houston. She also babysat children of some of the astronauts after work. She recalled the fun she had going to a party in California when Apollo 11 first landed humans on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
Her burial is on Friday April 24, 2020 at Laurel Land in Dallas.
She is survived by one brother and two sisters namely Jerry Wayne and Aletta Kaye Adams, Barabara Dean and Terry Lee Potter, and Margaret Claudia and Jimmy Ray Zollicoffer with a host of neices and nephews. She also has an older half-sister named Alva Nell.
With the union of Deanna and "Mike" Vail , seven sons were born: David Michael Vail, Daniel Marc Vail, Donald Mathew Vail (now Don Skotch Vail), Douglas Micah Vail, Dennison Moses Vail, a male infant that died at birth in 1975, and Derek Maai Vail.
