David Allen Wilson was born November 20, 1959 in Dallas. Texas was his home for 63 years and His Lord peacefully called him to his eternal home August 7, 2023. David’s heart was as big as Texas and anyone who met him received a warm smile and firm and energetic handshake. If you wanted to talk sports, David could quote you scores and stats from yesterday or years ago… especially the Rangers, Cowboys, Stars and Mavericks. For 37 years he worked as a Courtesy Clerk at Tom Thumb and was happy to help you in any way you may need it. For most of his life he lived with his friends at Storey Lane Independent Living, The Chateau. He is preceded to Heaven by his parents Leonard and Roberta Wilson. He is survived by his brother Leonard Wilson (RÖdermark, Germany) and his cousins who cared for him, Bobby & Tina James (Melissa, Texas) and James & Anette Roberts (McKinney, Texas).
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, to laugh,
To love, to work or play.
Tasks undone must stay that way
I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.
If parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wants me now, He set me free.
