He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 2nd, 1959 to Frances Fleming Hall. He and his family moved to Dallas, TX when he was in the second grade. There he also lived with his grandmother and Daddy Bo.
David attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he met the love of his life, Rosemary, while selling pickles for the basketball team. They instantly fell in love and married on August 23rd 1980 and enjoyed 47 years of marriage.
David attended McMurray college on a basketball scholarship, and later transferred to Dallas Baptist College to be closer to Rosemary. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
After 5 years of marriage, David and Rosemary moved to Garland, Texas. Soon thereafter, they had their first child, Melissa. David named Melissa after the Honeybee. David named his second child Tyler, after his grandmother.
He was a devoted father to Melisa and Tyler. He was not only the entertainment director, but also the home movie director as he spent all of his free time capturing cherished family moments by recording everything from mundane dinners to special occasions on his camcorder. David even helped with homework by fax when travelling He was a constant source of support, serving as a coach to his children’s sports teams, a tutor, problem solver, mentor, and overall leader for the family to lean on.
He played a pivotal role as a grandfather aka PaPa to his two grandchildren, who he saw almost every day. His constant attention was aimed at the kids, and making sure they had someone to play with and entertain them. He was kid at heart, he enjoyed playing with trains, and toys with his grandchildren just as much if not more than they did.
David found a second family through his work at Oracle, where he worked over 20 years as a Senior Business Analyst. Through his job, he was able to travel extensively nationwide as well as internationally to such places as Paris, Germany, and Mexico. He had a great relationship with his coworkers who he spoke with every day.
A foodie at heart, he loved food and wasn’t too shy to try new things and loved just about every kind of cuisine. He loved the water and enjoyed spending time in the ocean and pools. He even enrolled in swim classes to get out of jury duty. He loved music, books and movies and was eager to share his favorites with his friends and family. He loved playing the lottery and always dreamed of winning big. He spent time with his wife hiking, biking, tubing, and seeing such places as Yellowstone Park, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, and the Glaciers.
He was outstanding uncle and second father to his 12 nieces and nephews. He got his nickname Big Dave from his extended family because of his height and his big personality.
David is survived by his wife Rosemary, his children Melissa and Tyler, his son in law Alan, grandson Oliver, and granddaughter Ellie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Times Ten Cellars located at 6324 Prospect Ave Dallas, TX, 75214 on July 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
No gifts or flowers are required in David’s memory. The family only asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
