June 7, 1954 – January 24, 2013
From the day he was born, David Roger Costello was full of life and had a passion for making people laugh. The party started in Terrell, Texas with David as the 4th of seven born to Tom and Mattie Costello and continued through lots of twists, turns, and tales, until he was taken from his family and friends on Thursday, January 24, 2013. Making new friends, muscle cars, storytelling, Coors Lite, a new idea to make some green, and a good pair of overalls were just a few of his favorite pastimes in life. Of course, his most favorite was the love of his life, Anita Hafertepe, whom he met at the ripe age of 16. David graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1973, married Nita in 1979, and added three more loves to his life, his dear and darling daughters. David never met a stranger and was known for being the life of any party. If you had the opportunity to meet David, you instantly became his best friend and probably will never forget his big personality. While also big in stature, he had a sensitive heart. He was a loving husband, proud father, and doting grandfather. As he would tell anyone he met, he was unable to escape being surrounded by females in his home, but then quickly admitted that he couldn’t make it without his Queen and his branch Davidians. His passion for people, good times, and life in general made him the man we all knew and loved. He was taken from this world too early, but is most certainly enjoying heaven with his many family members and friends who have gone before him. We hope David influenced your lives as much as he did ours. Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mattie Costello, and brothers, Eleck, Jim, TJ, and Phil Costello, David is survived by his wife, Anita Costello, and daughters, Deanna Theobalt and Denece and Delaney Costello, son-in-law, Justin Theobalt, brother, Tim Costello, and sister, Cindy Costello, and his cherished grandchildren, Cody and Devin Theobalt. The Costello family would especially like to thank the staff of Baylor Hospital for their compassion, professionalism, and expertise while caring for David.
