David Alan Burger peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of January 25, 2021, at 71 years old. David was born on June 14, 1949, in El Dorado, Arkansas. However, his life really began at 16 when he met the love of his life at Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. He married his love, Mary McConnell, on November 1, 1969. They moved to Ruston and welcomed their first born in 1972. David went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech in 1973. After graduation, David and Mary moved to Shreveport and welcomed their second child in 1976. David moved his family to Arlington, Texas, in 1977 where he started his career as a life and health insurance agent. In 1994, David moved his family to his dream home in Mansfield, Texas, next to his happy place, a golf course. In his amazing, but too short life, David was an entrepreneur, an Army medic, an athlete, a hunter, an avid traveler, a beautiful poet and an incredible mentor to his children and grandchildren. He loved to read, complete crossword puzzles, play cards with his friends and chess with his grandson. He loved golf, lake sunsets, good wine and chocolate, and dancing all night and enjoying it all with the family and friends he so dearly loved. David had an infectious love for life, and we are all better people today because he loved us. He was a loving husband, father and friend and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his love, Mary Burger; his daughter Amanda Francis and her husband Mark; his son Gregory Burger and his wife Meredith; his pride and joy, grandchildren Grant Francis and Elizabeth Francis; sister-in law Nancy Liles and her husband Johnny, along with their children and grandchildren; his mother Beulah Sullivan Burger, his sister Susan Ward; his brother James Burger and his sister Lisa Clesi. A celebration of life will be hosted for family and friends on Tuesday, February 2nd, from 1pm-4pm at Walnut Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, www.lbda.org.
