Daniel Miller was born on December 8, 1937, in Bowie Co, Darden Texas, to the late Charlie and Erbie Reliford Miller.
He confessed Christ at an early age and recommitted his life to Christ in 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas.
Daniel received his early education at Center Point School, Nash, Texas, under the direction of Gardner Johnson where he was introduced to running track.
Daniel moved to Frederick, Oklahoma at age 13, and was raised by his brother, Curtis Miller and attended Boyd High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He was recognized as a talented player who along with the “Frederick Bombers’ won a football championship in 1956. The football team was inducted in the “Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame-Team of Legends” in 2007.
After graduation, Dan received numerous scholarships, selecting University of Maryland Eastern Shore, in Princess Anne, Maryland. Following his junior year, he entered the U.S. Army. His job was in the Artillery Unit. During his tour in the army, he was stationed in Germany. Daniel also ran track and played football for the US Army in France and Germany and made 1st and 2nd place honors in both fields. Following his tour of duty, Daniel returned to Dallas, where he was employed by U.S. Postal Service. He then received sales training from Zig Ziglar School of Public Speaking. He was employed by General Electric, where he later retired. Daniel worked at Gold Star Appliances in Richardson Texas where he retired after 15 years.
Daniel met and married his first wife Martha Cline, and from this union a child, Daniel Miller was born.
In 1984 Daniel married his beloved Legirtha Coleman Miller.
He is preceded in death by eight (8) brothers, and one (1) sister.
Daniel leaves to cherish his memories Legirtha Miller, his loving wife. His sons, Dr. Donald Cline of League, Texas, Cedric Cline of Corsicana, Jeffery Cline of Fort Worth, Daniel Miller of Irving, Reginald Coleman of Cedar Hill and Reginald Bell of Shreveport Louisiana, sisters, Annie Miller Stewart (Robert), of Nash Texas, Eunice Moore of Texarkana, Doris Sweat of Dallas and Rosie Randolph of St. Louis, Edwina Bailey (Paul) of DeSoto, eight (8) grandchildren and three (3) great-grandchildren. A great host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive him.
A visitation for Daniel will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232.
A Celebration of Life will occur on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232.
A Committal Service will occur on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
