Cornelia (Neda) Mae Chancellor Spencer was born February 22,1918 to parents Nettie and Parks Chancellor. She married Robert E. Spencer Jr., the love of her life who predeceased her. Together they traveled the world exploring nature and finding new adventures. She was a life time resident of Oak Cliff and helped organize and maintain a 1935 reunion for Sunset Hight School. Neda lived a life of faith and service to God, family and friends. She is survived by her children, Gayle and Don Peterson, Elaine Spencer-Carver and Larry Carver, Rob and Ilona Spencer. Grandchildren include Donald and Kerry Peterson, Stephanie Spencer, Mitch and Rachael Weatherly, and Michelle and John Reynolds. Two nephews, Ron and Judy Dawson and Ken and Karen Dawson, were treasured family members. She had 7 great grand children. As a member of Oak Cliff Christian Church, she taught Sunday School for 2-year-olds for over 50 years and was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Cornelia taught her family many lessons: to love each other and to celebrate life. She was a wonderful example of “our greatest generation” committed to preserving our world through recycling and careful repurposing for future generations. She will be missed and loved always. Services will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14th. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 15th.
