It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Cody Busa, a remarkable individual who will be missed immensely. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Cody's journey through life was filled with adventure, ambition, and an unwavering passion for Real Estate and the joy of living.
Cody's educational path led him from St. Michael's Catholic School, Strake Jesuit, and then to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he earned his BS degree in Real Estate and Finance, but he referred to it as "Entrepreneurship!." His educational foundation served as a springboard for an exciting career.
His professional journey began at Rainer Real Estate, and then he joined Goldman Sachs at their newly established Global Real Estate headquarters in Dallas. Inspired by his parents' careers in Real Estate, Cody charted his own path and founded multiple Private Equity firms dedicated to investing in Commercial Real Estate on a national scale. His determination, brilliance, and remarkable work ethic often made it seem like he was a full team in and of himself.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Cody was a compassionate and thoughtful soul, always ready to extend a helping hand. His caring nature and infectious smile touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Cody's zeal for life was unique, and he embraced every opportunity for adventure and exploration. From traveling the world to indulging in fancy cars, skiing in Colorado, visiting vibrant destinations like Las Vegas and Miami, and the camaraderie of his cherished friends, Cody really did make the most of his time on Earth.
We mourn the loss of Cody deeply and will forever treasure the memories we shared. In the face of such grief, we find solace in imagining him embarking on an extended vacation, forever exploring new horizons with his signature grin and laugh.
Cody is survived by his loving parents: Dana and Jackie Busa, his brothers: Anthony and Nick, his Grandparents: Anthony and Beatrice Busa and Jo Sherwood, Peter Sherwood (deceased) and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
He also leaves behind many relatives and a wide circle of friends who were fortunate to accompany him on his life's journey. His impact on their lives will endure, as his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
To honor Cody's memory, his family kindly requests that donations be made to the Save the Manatee organization as the manatee was his “spirit animal” and held a special place in his heart. Link is below.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. If you wish to attend and pay your respects, please email [email protected] by June 30th. We encourage you to add photos/videos/comments with your memories of Cody, please share in "Album" listed below.
