Cleathel Leichman was born June 4, 1932 to Rev. Cleveland Gafford and Georgia Williams-Gafford in Farmersville, Louisiana. Cleathel lived much of her adult life in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969; she lived in Mesquite, Texas from 1999 - 2018. Cleathel was a chef for the CEO's at First National Bank for a short time until the bank closed, however, she was blessed to spend 25 years working for Bill, Peggy, Margaret, Caroline and Laura Pollock as a domestic engineer and cook. She often spoke of them as her other family. Prior to working for the Pollock's, Cleathel worked at the Fairmont Hotel for 11 years and received a five star employee award; she was a very devoted employee wherever she worked. Finally but most importantly, Cleathel loved GOD with all her heart; her favorite thing to say was "HE'S an awesome GOD".
Cleathel is survived by 1 daughter - Kara Golston of Mesquite, TX 2 granddaughters - Tamara Bradley (Willie) of Mesquite, TX and Tiffany Jones (Torri) of Mesquite, TX 3 great grandchildren - Kayla Woodrow, Jordyn Jones and Chancellor "Chance" Jones. 3 brothers - George Edward Gafford, Cleveland Gafford and Cleophis Gafford 2 sisters - Inez Samuels, Connie Dancer (Billy Joe) and a host of amazing nieces, nephews and other relatives.
