Cheryl Marie Hayes, 71, of Dallas, died surrounded by her loving family on March 9, 2016. Born in Beaumont, Cheryl loved her family, friends, students, creative souls, travel, tinkering in the garden, and playing in her art studio. The eldest of five siblings, Cheryl grew up in Southeast Texas. After graduating high school magna cum laude, she attended Lamar University, finishing her education with a degree in Medical Technology from UT Health Science Center Dallas. After her lab career, Cheryl pursued her passion as a talented artist, attending SMU before entering her final career path as a beloved teacher in the Garland ISD, retiring in December. Preceding Cheryl in death were her son, John Robert McManus, parents Robert Glenn Hayes and Floy Marie Tevis Hayes, and brother James Tevis Hayes. Cheryl is survived by her daughter Pamela McManus Stiehler, Esq. and husband Steve and son David McManus and wife Marlo. "MeeMaw" will be missed by grandchildren Rickey McDoulett, Brett McDoulett, Austin McManus, Chase McManus, Ryan Stiehler, and Stephanie Stiehler, siblings Paul Hayes and wife Connie, Pat Hayes and wife Susanne, and Kathleen Jander and by a large extended family and group of friends who loved and admired her. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
