Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps from March 17, 1944 to July 27, 1946. He also worked as Chief Engineer for Dallas County, and retired in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Arline Bishop Jay and is survived by his daughters, Loretta Thomas and husband Billy Wayne; Jill Lucius and husband David; his five grandchildren, Billy Keith
Thomas and wife Amy, Kevin Wayne Thomas and wife Heather, and Joe Frank Thomas and wife Stormy, and Adam Jay Lucius, and Sara Elaine Lucius; his 6 great-grandchildren, Ben Thomas, Sam Thomas, Tyler
Thomas, Emma Thomas, Haylee Johnson, and Austin Lucius; his brother, Robert Jay, and
sisters, Pearl Price and Daisy Martin.
