Wyly, Charles Joseph, III, better known as Chip, died unexpectedly due to complications of a recent illness on the morning of January 11, 2018, at the age of 58, peacefully in his home. Chip was born in Houston, Texas, on August 18, 1959, to Caroline (Dee) Wyly and the late Charles Joseph Wyly, Jr.
Chip was a gentle and kind person who was unfailingly happy. He truly lived life to the fullest. He loved his family first and foremost – they were everything to him. He was passionate about all forms of theater and never missed a performance or production of any kind. Among the joys in his life were his weekly dinners with his beloved mother, and going to the movies and dinner outings with different family members. Chip loved the outdoors and relished his tennis lessons, snow skiing when in Colorado on family vacations, and working out in the gym with his trainer. One of the highlights of his week was his sessions at the University of Texas Center for Brain Health. Despite the challenges Chip faced with mental illness, he embraced them and was forever grateful to be alive and living a very full life. Chip’s enthusiastic and happy personality was quite infectious. He had the ability to turn everything into a positive and put a smile on everyone’s face.
Chip was preceded in death by his sister, Carla Elizabeth Wyly and his father Charles Joseph Wyly, Jr. Chip is survived by his mother, Caroline (Dee) Wyly; his sister Martha and her husband Donnie Miller; his sister Emily Wyly; his sister Jennifer and her husband Jim Lincoln. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Trey Miller, Carla Miller, Chris Miller and fiancée Morgan McNeely, Dulaney and her husband Craig Archibald, Meghan Lindsey, Wyly Lincoln and Jessie Lincoln, and great-niece Hunter Miller and great-nephew Grayson Miller.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt and deeply sincere thank you to Chip’s long-term care-givers, Gayla Kehm and Kris Gannaway, who walked alongside him daily.
