Charles A. Turner, Sr., was born in Gastonia, Texas, to the parents of Jame F. Turner and Nola L. Nero on December 18, 1936. Charles loved sports. He graduated from B.T. Washington. A retired freightliner driver, Charles passed away on December 4, 2018, at the age of 81.
Charles is preceded in death by both parents; stepdaughter, Brenda Kay Caldwell, of Dallas, Texas; son, Darelle Turner, of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Sonny Turner, Clyde Nero, Don “Duck” Nero and Jerry Daniels, all of Dallas; four sisters, Margie Cathartic, Jo Ann Moore, Jeanitha Wilson and Veronica Turner, all of Terrell, Texas; three brothers, Donald Turner, Rev. Earl B. Turner, Sr., and Rev. Jame F. Turner, Jr., all of Terrell, Texas.
In 1973, Charles married Bernice Williams of Tyler, Texas, and they were married until his passing. He loved Bernice very much (“Bern” as he would call her).
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Bernice Turner; two sons, Charles A. Turner, Jr., and Clinton E. Turner; grandchildren, Charo D. Knight, Chaz N.D. Turner, Clinton E. Turner, Jr., and Mikayla Turner; great-grandchildren, Charo Knight Jr., Chyra Knight and Chaz N.E. Turner, Jr.; brothers, Edward Turner, Sr. (Theresa), Dennis Turner, and Ray Turner; sisters, Sharon Daniels, Theresa Madden, Shirley Abbey, Virginia Johnson, Medis Henry, Charlotte Morris and Brenda Spencer; and a host of other family members and friends.
