Charles William Miller, formerly of Edinburg, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at his home in Carrolton, Texas. Charley was a native of the Rio Grande Valley having been born in Mission, Texas, on September 25, 1929. Charley graduated from Mission High School in 1947 and worked for Sun Oil Company in both Starr County and McAllen until 1976. He continued his career as a natural gas marketer with Sun Oil in Dallas until his retirement in 1989. Charley was a little league baseball coach for years. His team, the Reising Diggers, won many league championships. Charley was a member of the American Petroleum Institute and Toastmasters. A Major in the U.S. National Guard, Charley retired from military service in 1971. On July 31, 1954, Charley married Maxine Gupton. One of his proudest accomplishments was the ability to make Maxine happy. Charley is survived by his wife, Max, of Carrollton; his son, Jeffrey Bryan Miller, of Conroe; and his daughter and son-in-law, Bettepat and Keith Graves of Plano, Texas. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Charles Caleb Miller, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Carley Faye Miller, of Enid, Oklahoma; and, Charles Thomas Graves and Kevin Keith Graves of Plano. A memorial service honoring Charley will be he held at 2pm on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 8011 Frankford Dr. A celebration of Charley's life will be held from 2pm-4pm on Saturday, August 7, at the Echo hotel in Edinburg, Texas.
