Charles Bruce Huston passed away on July 29, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. Born in Holdrege, Nebraska, on October 1, 1938, he grew up on the family farm near the village of Ragan. His parents were Charles and Bernice Huston. He graduated from Ragan High School in 1956. He then attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln, graduating in 1960. He taught English and coached football and track at Odell, (Nebraska) High School for one year. This was followed by a stint of employment at Ford Motor Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He joined Valmont Industries and was based in Boulder, Colorado. In 1983, he moved to San Diego, California, as VP of Sales for Hunter Industries, a new irrigation equipment manufacturer. He established a world-wide distribution network, which is an industry leader today. He retired from Hunter in 2003.
In high school, he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was president of ATO in Lincoln and was on the Student Council there. He was a member of Mensa, was an avid art collector and traveled extensively. He especially enjoyed the Santa Fe Opera and favorites, the Green Bay Packers. He married the late Sandra Styles in 1963 and had three children together; Jennifer Cruickshank of Aliso Viejo, CA, Jane Huston Malouf (Spencer) of Dallas, TX, and Charley Huston (Stacy) of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Samantha, Jack and Charlotte. He divorced in 1983 and never remarried. During retirement, Charles lived in San Diego, Ft. Collins, CO, and Dallas.
His ashes will be buried at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska, with his parents and two sisters, Marilyn and Joanne. His surviving sibling is James Huston (Jill) of Holdrege. He lived a long and happy life!
