Charles was born on October 25, 1946 in Dallas, Texas to Delbert Monroe Grubbs, Jr. and Iva Dell Vinson Grubbs. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1965 / 1966.
Charles was employed by Southland Life Insurance, Susan Crane, Inc., and later became a self employed Auto Mechanic.
Throughout Charles' years, he had many accomplishments and hobbies. He was able to obtain his small aircraft pilot's license, went scuba diving abroad for many years, went snow skiing on many occasions, loved boating and entertaining friends on the lake. He was also a member of the Longhorn Foundation which enabled him to attend ALL of the University of Texas Longhorns games for years.
Throughout his long career and many numerous hobbies and activities, Charles was able to meet and entertain so many people. He had MANY friends and acquaintances that have remained close for many years. One of his "trademark" quotes as many knew was "HOOK EM HORNS"
Charles is survived by his sister Karen Grubbs Mayes and her husband Robert Lawrence Mayes, Nieces and Nephews; Robert L. Mayes II and wife Carissa Mayes; Janna Mayes Crumb, Lisa McGary, Jennifer Mayes, Christina Geskos, Justin Mayes, Ron Philleuax; and Great Nieces and Nephews; Mason Crumb, Kera Mayes, Dylan Crumb, Alissa Mayes, and Landon Mayes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the chapel of Sparkman Crane Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of customary remembrances, and for those desiring, contributions in memory of Mr. Grubbs may be directed to the Longhorn Foundation, P. O. Box 7399, Austin, TX, 78713 in support of Texas Athletics.
