Cerelle Southworth Doran, loving mother and grandmother (E-ma), passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at age 77 while rehabilitating from a recent hospital stay. She had battled and recovered from multiple medical conditions over the last several years.
Born Cerelle Southworth in Dallas on December 25, 1937 into an established Dallas family, her great-grandfather was General John J. Good, one of the early mayors of Dallas and for whom Good Latimer Expressway was named. She attended Lipscomb Elementary, Long Junior High and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1955. She then attended North Texas State University where she roomed with her lifelong friend Carol Montgomery Detwiler. Cerelle spent most of her life in the real estate business and her free time buying, remodeling and then selling many homes over the years. Her friends said she was the original re-do/flipper of Lake Highlands real estate. In a March 2004 article in the Advocate she said “It’s like a hobby. I found that when I’d get through with one house, I wanted to start over on something new.” She truly enjoyed the process of making homes new again. In her later years she got great joy out of sharing in her children’s and grand children’s lives.
Cerelle was preceded in death by her parents and survived by son Kyle Sellers, daughter Kelli Brewer & son in law Claude Brewer, grandsons Brandon & Chase Brewer, sister Mary Beadle, brother Robert Southworth, many nieces and nephews, her beloved dog Sammy, and several close friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sparkman – Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road Dallas, Texas 75218, 214-327-8291.
